Jamie Cooper

Jamie Cooper is a former professional Australian Rules footballer having played 26 senior AFL games for the Fitzroy Lions Football Club. In 1985 he retired from professional sport to travel the world and pursue his true love, art.

Jamie worked as a commercial artist in London, painted public murals in Greece and worked as a political caricature artist for a national newspaper in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Upon returning to Australia in 1991 he produced portraits and sculptures inspired by his travels. In 1998 his unique style was noticed by the Collingwood Football Club who commissioned three paintings commemorating their final home game at Victoria Park.
In 1999 Jamie produced a Team of the Century painting for AFL club Carlton, the first of many that have become part of Australian sporting culture.

Jamie lives in Melbourne, Australia with his partner Jennifer and daughter Zoe.
