Clair St Clair was a high profile NSW identity and the art community's driving force for more than 20 years. The eccentric St Clair was instrumental in the building of the Cambeltown City Art gallery and establishing it as one of Australia's finest regional art galleries.
As a result of her tireless efforts Dave titled the painting "Pain in the Art".
The painting was chosen as a finalist for the 1990 Archibald Prize.
